The Eagle Ford Shale geologic formation generated $3 billion in revenue for South Texas oil producers and local governments in 2010, according to a new study released Thursday by the Center for Community and Business Research at University of Texas at San Antonio’s Institute for Economic Development.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. will hold a job fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in Uvalde at the Quality Inn at 920 East Main St. as it prepares to ramp up drilling in the Eagle Ford shale oil and gas play in South Texas.

The recently discovered Eagle Ford shale play in South Texas extends from Laredo to south of San Antonio and north to Bryan. Future production estimates range from 500,000 barrels per day to more than 1 million barrels per day in the years to come.

That is good for the Texas economy overall and has the potential to be very important for the Coastal Bend……

Today, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) issued the first deepwater drilling permit in the Gulf of Mexico since the Macondo incident.

It’s a step in the right direction. We hope it is the first of many, and that other permits currently caught up in the backlog of regulatory uncertainty will be approved quickly. The industry has learned from 2010 Macondo incident.
